Happy Birthday Wesley!

Today is my dear husband's 32nd birthday. The celebrating began on Friday night and will continue through today stretching into a three-day event.

I wanted to share a few pictures and videos from the festivities. Along the way, I thought I would explain just why I think Wesley is a pretty amazing husband, father, friend...

* Oh, and athlete. My husbands three favorite sports include football, golf, and volleyball. Football will probably always be # 1 in his heart (Go Irish!), but golf has recently taken a close second. Especially after Friday afternoon. Wes and Jeremy were finishing up on the 18th hole, but Wes couldn't find his ball. He knew his second shot had landed somewhere on the green, but they were having trouble locating it. As Wes walked passed the hole, he said "just because I'm interested" and glanced down. Here is what he saw: Now I'm no golfer, but I'm told that an eagle on a par four is fairly impressive. So congrats babeski, you're a star. Oh, and the volleyball thing? Wes actually knew nothing about the sport until I became the varsity coach four years ago. Since then, he and my mom and kids have come faithfully to almost every game. They are our number one fans, and I now listen to post-game advice from my "assistant coach" when I get home from games. I could not coach if Wes wasn't so supportive. I love that about him.

* Friday night, we spent time with our friends Jeremy and Lindsay. Jeremy is Wes's very good friend from high school, and they have remained close over the years. The four of us ate dinner, drank some wine, played games, and laughed A LOT. It was Lindsay's birthday this week as well, so here's a pic of the birthday girl and boy. This makes me think of two important things about Wesley. He is incredibly loyal. Once a friend, always a friend. Also, Wes is very curious. Lindsay and Jeremy went to wine country and really enjoy learning about wine, how it's made, it's flavors, etc. Wes would like to know everything they know and more. And that doesn't just apply to wine. Wes wants to know a lot about everything. This is probably why Wes's favorite tv channels include DIY, Discovery, and the Science Channel. If there is something he doesn't know how to do, he'll figure it out. This has come in incredibly handy as he has done almost all of our home projects and has helped numerous friends and family members with theirs. It is definitely a gift and he uses it well.

* Saturday night, we headed over to my parents' house to celebrate with the family. Uncle Dennis and Aunt Susan stopped in for a visit on their way from Maryland to Arizona, so there were a lot of people at the party...

The Men:The Women:The Argyle:If you know Wes at all, you know that he really hates taking pictures. Posing for group shots takes a ton of time that Wes could be using doing anything else. So, yet one more reason why I love my hubby? He poses for the pictures anyway :)

* After a great bbq dinner (thanks Mom!) it was time for gifts and dessert. These pictures remind me just how amazing Wes is at being a dad. Whether it's playing Mario Galaxy on the Wii with PR, or calling Brady "big dog" and playing with the race track, Wesley is an awesome dad and we are so lucky to have him as a part of our family.

* Thank you Mark and Abby, for the ski helmet. As displayed in a previous post, my husband is fairly daring and adventurous. I'd like him to stay that way for at least another 32 years, so the helmet was an excellent choice!

* We ended the night with a rousing game of Guesstures. The women were victorious over the men (and Mark, Abby and I do NOT cheat :)) If you're reading this post, see if you can figure out what exactly everyone is attempting to act out... As you probably already know, Wesley loves ALL games...settlers, cards, chess, video games, and the list goes on. (Good gift choice Gwen and Tim) If you can make it a competition, Wes will participate. Hmmm, I think I just gave myself an idea when it comes time to clean the house...

So, Happy Birthday Babeski. I could probably write about a hundred more things about you, but we'll just end with this...I love you very much.

And So It Begins...

As some of you already know, Payton and Brady love naked time. What is naked time you might ask? Those 5-10 minutes each night just after the clothes come off and just before the pajamas go on. I suppose it's probably refreshing to be free of that big bulky diaper, even just for a moment.

Yesterday morning, I was getting Brady dressed for the day. As is customary, he took off running once I had taken his pajamas off. Yelling of course, "naked, naked." I ran downstairs to get something and heard Brady heading into the bathroom. Sure that he was messing with the toilet, toothpaste, or some other messy thing, I quickly came back up to check on him.

There he was, one foot on each side of the toilet seat, squatting down, having just pee'd in the potty for the first time! He climbed up on the seat, turned around, and not knowing what else to do, squatted down and took care of business. I think we might have a prodigy on our hands :).

Needless to say, when I called Wes to tell him about his son's achievements, he was very proud. We promptly went out last night and bought Brady his first pair of glow-in-the-dark Transformer big boy underwear.

As you can tell by the look on his face, Brady wasn't so sure about the whole thing. We sat him on the potty several more times and were unsuccessful. About an hour later, Brady christened his new undies. Oh well, at least it's a start...

What's Up, & Good Grief!

I snapped these two photos of Payton and Brady last night...

"Uncle Brad & Aunt Jayne, thanks for my awesome sweatshirt. What's up..."

"Mom, take a picture of me too!" Here is Payton's pose. Good grief.

Man Day

This past week, Wes, Tim, Mark, and Ernie spent the day skiing and boarding at Winter Park & Mary Jane. As you can see by the video, they didn't have any fun at all. As you can also see from the video, they will probably all be competing in the next X Games.
