This afternoon we competed in M-SAT, or Molly's Saturday Afternoon Test. Molly is the sister of one of my friends from Arapahoe, and this was an adventure race she has always wanted to plan and host. There were about twenty participants total, including my mom and dad and Jeremy and Lindsay. We started out at The Lobby Bar downtown where we received race rules and directions. And a few of us had some pre-race libations :)

The course was a four mile trek all over downtown. As we walked/ran, there were twenty stops along the way. We had to count windows on sides of buildings, identify states and their capitols, do math problems based on dates from historic plaques, label the bones of the body, and test our knowledge of grammar and parts of speech. Here we are in front of the State Capital.

Halfway through the race, we met up with my parents. We did the rest of the race together.

At this point in the race, we were trying to identify homophones (words that sound the same but are spelled differently?!) on this 16th street sign...

About an hour and a half later, we arrived back at our starting destination for results and happy hour. Mike & Andrea (Arapahoe friends...)

James, Andy, and Pat (the team that finished the course the fastest and got 2nd place overall...)

In the end, our tests were graded and our overall scores were calculated...race time, test score, and average team age were all taken into consideration. Wes and I ended up in third place.
We had an awesome time and it was so much fun getting to do something active and unique downtown. Thanks Mark and Abby for babysitting the kids! We can't wait to do it again next year :)
