Mammal, or Reptile?!

As a biology teacher, I THOUGHT I knew a lot about animal behaviors...I thought that reptiles were the only group of animals who sunned themselves to get warm. Not so. Or, maybe there's a reason why PR loves to pretend she's a dinosaur!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

This afternoon, the kids and I headed down to Coors Field for an afternoon of baseball. Well, actually, it was more for the free lunch! Gwen's company had an outing consisting of a bbq and tickets to the Rockies game. We got to tag along...we didn't make it for much of the game, but we enjoyed the free Rockies dog and running around the stadium!

Why We Love Summer: Reason #1001

Today marks the 12th day out of the last 14 that we've been to the pool. I love summer.

An Air Bubble?!

Yesterday, Wes shared with his daughter one of his greatest gifts...an air bubble. No, I'm not talking about the way your swimming suit bubbles up in a hot tub. Nor am I talking about a giant belch. I'm talking about something Wes invented when he was 6 or 7 or 8. An air bubble...a king-size sheet clothes-pinned to a blowing box fan. The result? An awesome fort for reading books, resting, and hanging out.

Happy Birthday to...the USA!

As is our family tradition, we headed up to the cabin on Friday to celebrate the 4th of July. Since there are only so many days off each year, our family definitely made the most of the day. With over 30 kids and adults present, we participated in almost every activity known to man--we kicked off the morning with a parade (producer's note: pay special attention to what Aunt Sue does to Todd as he approaches the truck during the parade!), and headed back to the cabin for board games, bocce ball, and target practice with bb guns. After a quick snack break, we headed out for a hike and rock climbing, ended that hike with some 2 on 2 basketball, and used up the remaining daylight with a family game of wiffle ball. We concluded the evening with an awesome fireworks show put on by Uncle Ken and the Indian Hills Fire Department. There is nothing better than hearing the booms echo and roll through the mountains.
