The Little @$$ Farm

Last Sunday, we wanted to celebrate fall. Brad and Jayne had heard about a fall festival at Hudson Gardens...hay rides, bee keeping, pumpkin patch, the works. Well, unfortunately, we learned a little too late that the Hudson Gardens Fall Festival was only on Saturday. So, I looked online for another fun place to go. We found Meuller's Little @$$ Farm. (That's really what it was called!) It wasn't too far away and boasted of a pumpkin patch, fall food, and lots of fun. Let's just say that Meuller's Little @$$ Farm was little and definitely not a farm.

This picture of Wes and Lando pretty much sums it up. There was a grass field about the size of my mom and dad's back yard. Those barns and trailers in the background were next door, not anything we could explore. The bouncy house you see was pretty much deflated by the time Payton, Brady, and Rosalind got done with it. There were also two small plastic slides. You know, the kind you buy to put in your own backyard. There were maybe 20 pumpkins strewn around the "patch". I'm pretty sure they were purchased at the grocery store that morning and thrown on the ground to be sold at double the price.
Rosalind picked this pumpkin as her favorite. It was the "small" size pumpkin on sale for $6.00. We opted not to buy it (or the large size pumpkins for $12.00) and headed to Sunflower Market where the pumpkins were 3 for $10.00.
There were two middle school girls painting faces. So, Payton and Rosalind got to choose their own designs.
After about 15 minutes, we had pretty much experienced all the Meuller's Farms had to offer, so we found a shady corner and snapped a few photos. The highlight of the afternoon. :)
Not exactly what we were hoping for, but still fun to get out and do something as a family. Next year, we'll try for Hudson Gardens!

Happy Birthday Grandma Inge!

Grandma Inge's birthday was a week or two ago, and we had her over for dinner, dessert, and presents. Grandma Inge is an expert cook in all things involving meat, potatoes, gravy, etc. Wes and I? Not so much. So, we opted for something a little different and went with stir fry and peach pie.
This pic is a little blurry, but it, not surprisingly, was the best of four different attempts.

We are so lucky to have Grandma Inge so close by. She helps us out tremendously by watching the kiddos one or two days a week while I'm at work. She is kind, patient, and always willing to help. Happy Birthday Grandma Inge! We love you very much!

Landon & Sam

On Thursday mornings, I don't have to teach. I still have to go to school in the afternoons for practice or a game, but from 9:00 when I drop Payton off at school until 11:15 when I pick Brady up from preschool, I have a little window of time to hang out just with Landon. For the first few weeks of the school year, my mornings were filled with Dr. appointments, errands, laundry, etc. But last Thursday morning I had a special treat. My good friend Kristin, who also teaches at AHS, came over for a visit with her son Sam. Sam is 6 months old and has had quite a roller coaster ride during his first few months of life. Most of you have seen their blog over on my blog list, so you know all about his fight. As of right now, Sam is doing really well and is a happy, chubby, awesome little dude. It was so much fun to relax, drink a Starbucks drink, and catch up with Kristin. Plus, Landon really enjoyed having someone his own size to hang out with! Thanks for coming over Kristin, it was great seeing you and Sam. Let's do it again soon!

Nine Months

The Grape Stomp!

After the parade, we had one hour before Payton's soccer game, so we headed over to visit Opa at Water 2 Wine. He has started working there part time since he retired from Grandview. He loves learning all about the wine and talking with people.

Once a year, they host a Grape Stomp to help fight cancer. For $20.00, you get to stomp in the grapes and put your footprints on a t-shirt. Opa bought the t-shirt, so all the kids got to experience squishing the grapes between their toes!

Arapahoe Homecoming Parade

We had a busy weekend full of lots of fun activities. This past week was homecoming at Arapahoe, so Saturday morning, we headed over to the Streets of Southglenn for the parade.

Camden came along for the fun!
We also met a bunch of other Arapahoe teachers there...the Craigs, Bradleys, Thurmonds, Abners, and Brad, Jayne, and my mom to name a few.
This picture makes it look like it was cold outside. It was actually very hot, but Lando was in serious need of a nap and was enjoying snuggling with his blankie.
Here is the king and the queen. Chris is a cross country runner who I had in class a few years ago. Katie, the queen, is a cheerleader and is Payton's teacher, Mrs. K-I's daughter!This was one of the first times that I didn't have a volleyball tournament over homecoming, so all four of my volleyball teams participated in the parade. Here are my varsity girls.And, here's a pic of me and my awesome sis-in-law Jayne. We usually take all the pics, so we had Brad snap one of us!
The kids had a lot of fun, got a TON of candy, and this was just the beginning of our day! See the posts to come for what happened next!
