This year's 4th was a little bit the same and a little bit different...with the extreme fire danger, most of the state cancelled their fireworks shows. That meant no fireworks at the cabin. So, we headed up in the morning for the traditional Indian Hills Parade.
We pretty much look like the parade in the picture below, but this is just this year's cabin crew heading down for the celebration!
Payton decided that she wanted to walk for a bit in the parade. She donned this festive outfit and I walked with her for two or three blocks. She had a little squirt bottle that she wanted to use to squirt the kids watching the parade. Oh my goodness...once people saw her squirting them, it was an all out water fight! They had balloons, water canons, and were ready to drench us! Payton's squirt bottle didn't stand a chance. So, we ducked out, walked back up to the family, and watched the rest of the parade as spectators.
Heath and Nolan sporting their fire hats.
Cohen liked his view from the upper deck.
Landon just liked figuring out how to use the squirt bottle.
Brooks Wesley...just chillin'.
After the parade we headed back to the cabin for some relaxation and snacks.
And then it was time for the different part of our day. Since we couldn't watch the fireworks, we headed home in the early afternoon for a barbeque with a bunch of our friends.
The men played some fierce rounds of bocce.
The ladies (and Sean) just had fun eating, drinking, laughing, and talking.
It was so hot and hazy from all the fires that it was the perfect night for some sprinklers....with or without swimsuits!
We had a great day. It was fun to keep some old traditions and start some new ones. Hopefully next year we can also have some fireworks!

Great pictures!!! Looks like your party was super fun! Way more fun than over an hour in Home Depot buying a washer & dryer and trying to keep 3 crazy boys entertained! Ha! Hoping for fireworks for next year for sure!
