The Sluggers

Throughout the summer, Brady has been playing on a t-ball team.  He really enjoyed soccer this spring, but he wanted to try a different sport.  So, he and Rylan signed up for a Saturday morning league.  Their team name was the Sluggers.  They practiced from 9:00 to 9:30, then played the only other Saturday morning team, the Rockies, from 9:30 to 10:30.  The played at Cherry Knolls which has a great playground and stream right nearby, so Payton and Landon didn't do much watching... 

 After the first week, "practice" didn't consist of much more than the dads playing catch with their sons.

 For his first ever baseball experience, Brady did really well.  He hit the ball hard, started to figure out how to catch, and ran as fast as he could around the bases.  He's not exactly a sprinter, but hey, he gets there in his own time.

 Rylan was gone on vacation the week I brought my camera, so he is missing from the photos.  This is Cody, the other boy Brady became friends with.  Cody is a baseball extraordinaire, and his dad helped coach the team.

 As this picture so accurately depicts, the boys varied tremendously in their focus, intensity, and understanding of the game.  Also, each boy might vary in their focus, intensity, and understanding from minute to minute.  :)

 There aren't actually any outs in this league.  Each boy gets to bat and run a single base each time.  Without this simple rule, I think the first inning might not actually end!

It was fun to get up on Saturday mornings and do something together as a family.  Brady really enjoyed playing, and I think he is definitely ready for some real coach pitch baseball next year!
